The Friends of X112 was a steering group set up to support the No 11 and X12 bus service, provided by Blueworks. These routes receive no subsidy from the County or District Council and were set for cancellation.
This would have resulted in the loss of vital transport links from Coniston to Ulverston and Ulverston to Barrow via Rampside.
The aims of the group, which is registering for charity status,
The relief of social isolation and economic exclusion in South Lakeland and Furness, along the routes of the X112 and No11 routes, for the public benefit.
The relief of those in need, by reason of youth, age, ill-health, disability, financial hardship or other disadvantage by the promotion of bus services and available discounts, thereby enabling travel for leisure, tourism, access to health care, access to social events, shopping and other essential services, for the public benefit.
The promotion of industry and commerce, specifically the X112 and
No 11 bus services, the ability to access employment and training
via the service, for the public benefit.
